Yep... that's python.
Now pick yourself of of the ground and breathe. There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this.
But let me start by saying this snake died a natural death.
Bagmaker Evelyne's grandfather is the captain of a ship that gets sea water for our Rotterdam Zoo aquarium. In this capacity he knows the snake at that same zoo.
When the python died he asked if Evelyne could make a bag that resembled his wife's favorite handbag.
Evelyne made a bag for the keeper and because she is not one to throw away bits, she asked me if I would like a python trimming on one of the pouches.
You can imagine that I was a bit shocked at first. I was worried that people might think it was illegal. But it isn't. It died a natural death. The leather is strong and lasting and beatiful. It is from BLIJDORP our Rotterdam Zoo. So it's pretty special.
She made the pouch. And it can be yours.
