#34 - Zoe Edwards from the Check your Thread podcast on Me Made May

In my podcast A Smaller Life, I talk to makers and business owners in my industry (and sometimes beyond) about making conscious choices and growing your brand by actually going smaller.

In this episode, you’ll hear from Zoe Edwards who you might know from her blog

So Zo, What do you Know or her more recent endeavor, the Check your Thread Podcast. And if that doesn't ring a bell... the famous creator & maker hastag #memademay is the brainchild of Zoe!

Zoe, like me, focusses on creating a sustainable and conscious wardrobe and shares her findings with her readers and listeners. Where I have my main focus on knitting, her focus is on sewing.

She is my sister from another mister and you can imagine my excitement when she asked me to come on her podcast. I was so flattered! In my day I created a hashtag too, with modest acclaim #myknitpile or #knitpile[insertyear].

We also both have bangs, but that might be stretching it...

In our super fun and inspiring conversation, we get to know Zoe and learn how she ended up as a sustainable craft podcaster. We find out the difference between the sustainable knitting and the sewing world and we talk about what Me Made May is NOT. I also explain what we will be doing around the topic in our community.

ZOE's 4 tips for Starting Sewists

  1. Start Simple
  2. Make (with) something you love (material)
  3. Care for fabric (choose a good match pattern/fabric and something that lasts and is sustainably made)
  4. Take your time
